Onks mul ADHD? Osa 1
Olen piirtänyt vähän pidempää sarjakuvaproggista, ja nyt voisi olla hyvä julkaista sitä muutaman sivun pätkissä.
(Unfortunately I won’t write translations or image descriptions immediately to this, since I’m posting more than three pages at ones. I can’t also promise when I’d write them.)
Bouncy ball
Meille ilmestyi puoli vuotta sitten tällainen superpallo…
Six months ago, we got a bouncy ball…
(Image descriptions: First page has three long and narrow boxes. All of them have a peachy background color. On the first one, a round orange ball is flying through air towards ground. On the second one, orange ball is ellipse-shaped and flying towards ceiling. On the third one, orange ball hits brown platform with force.
Second page has one pig box of colour, without box lines, a little bit of peachy background and a lot of brown cover of the bed. On top of the bed, there is an orange-and-white colored long haired cat with wide eyes and big pupils, ears pointing almost horizontally into different directions and a tail up. Three of his legs are showing.)
Love story
Vuonna 2021 piirretty katselmus taaksepäin.
I drew this in early 2021 as a short looking back-comic.
For ones using image descriptions: everything in this comic is drawn/written by hand in ProCreate.
A lot has changed lately, for better.
I went on a date on a island.
And it was a start of a love story.
(Image description: First page has a red-and-brown upper part and blue middle part.
Upper part has a red wall and a gravel road I’m walking on from left to right, looking up and smiling. I have semi-short grey hair with a bit of waves and black shirt, blue pants and grey shoes. I have a blue hat. On the right side there’s a text ”A lot has changed lately, for better.”
Middle part has a greenish small island on a sea, with a couple of birches, one red house and another yellowish. There’s also an info board. Above the island, it says ”I went on a date on a island.” Beneath this all, it says with bigger letters on white background ”And it was a start of a love story.”)
that went through first dates and
shoes that got wet at the swamp
to our home.
(Image description: Upper part of the second page has three little illustrations. Middle part has text and beneath it there’s another drawing. First drawing in the upper row has my girlfriend and me standing next to each other when we were on our first date. Background is blue and dark grey, as sky, sea and asphalt. Second drawing has wet and dirty grey shoes, another one on its side. Background is light brown. Third drawing has white hooks on grey wall and two set of keys are hanging from the hook.
Beneath it says
”that went through first dates and
shoes that got wet at the swamp
to our home.”
Beneath the text there’s an illustration of us sitting on the sofa side to side, me leaning my head on hers and our cat laying on both of our legs. Our another cat is curled up next to me.)
The last wisdom tooth removal
So yeap, my last wisdom tooth got removed in the very end of January. Here’s a comic in finnish about how the next week or so went by. Translations are bolded in the image description! (Btw, I had the stitches removed afterwards – that’s why the last panel. It went well, too!)
Image description:
1. panel: First day: Nubba is lying on a dark/black couch, holding a ice pack against their cheek. Nubba has red hair and blue skirt, and behind them there’s a cream colored pillow. There’s a speech bubble above them saying: ”It went so well, I don’t mind the swelling at all since this was the last one!”
2. panel: Second day: Nubba is looking at three mugs/glasses full of smoothie on the table, Nubba is looking annoyed. There’s an orange text box above them saying ”I will lose my mind with this sh*t.”
3. panel: Third day: There’s a paper on the dark brown table, and a pink ball point pen. There’s written text on the paper saying: ”The list of foods I wanted to eat during getting better, and that I will eat once I’m allowed:
-sushi
-hesburger’s soy tortilla
-french fries
-nuggets”
4. panel: Fourth day: Nubba is looking at themselves in the mirror. There’s a thought bubble beneath Nubba, saying ”This swelling will probably never get better. My cheek will be forever like this.”
5. panel: Fifth day: Nubba is looking at their phone and grinning, there’s a speech bubble above them: ”Oh, so it can take up to week until it get’s better…”
6. panel: Sixth day: Nubba is holding their mouth a little bit open, stars are sparkling from the swollen cheek. There’s an orange text box above them saying: ”Will the dentist’s tools be able to fit in my mouth, when I can’t get it opened more than this…?”
January Diary
January was weird. Here’s a comic diary kind of post… this one is in finnish, but I have texts in english too 🙂 (I bolded the translations of the text parts in the image description, which you can find in the end of this post, so if you read in english but have no visual impairment, you can find the translations pretty easily, not needing to read the whole image description.)
Image description:
Digitally drawn page of a comic diary kind of thing. Upper left corner has Nubba with white skin and red, short hair on a ponytail. Next to them is a text ”January was a bit… weird.”
Under them is a pile of text, that says: ”Don’t misunderstand it! January had a lot of lovely moments: I visited my friend living in another town, took my second tattoo, made ACTUALLY some work with my bachelor’s thesis… …BUT…”
Next to the text there’s an illustration of two friends hugging each other. Other one is Nubba and other one has long brown dreadlocks. Under the text there’s an illustration of Nubba hugging a toilet, for a change. They’re huffing and the toilet has worried face and a speech bubble that says ”it ain’t easy being a toilet”.
Under this illustration there’s a huge text that says: ”It sucked.” Next to this illustration there’s a text that says ”I also got a stomach flu*, and had to cancel my day visit to Kouvola and meeting with ten close friends or family members. (*Maybe? It might have been because of endometriosis or medication, too…)” Under this text there’s another that says ”The rest of the month I was horribly busy. I didn’t even have time to panic, that…” Next to this text there’s an illustration of Nubba standing next to book pile and a laptop, handing over some papers to someone outside the picture and having speech bubble above them saying ”I need your signature”, other one having a speech bubble saying ”ok”. Nubba is also looking to their phone, which has a message ”Hey, this thing need to be done today! Can you?” and having another speech bubble, saying ”Sos, I really don’t have time. I must delegate it”
Under this illustration there’s a text saying ”…I had a wisdom tooth removal on the last day of the month! It all went well. Now to resting and healing!” Next to this text, in the bottom right corner, there’s an illustration of Nubba lying under blankets with swollen up cheek. They’re holding their finger up in the air and have a speech bubble above them that says ”It was the last one. So never again!”
Taking care
Hi,
this is a comic about taking care. Taking care of what, that’s the question in the comic too!
[Image description: It is a digitally drawn seven panel comic. All the panels are squares.
1. panel: Background is same for the first five pictures: light rose color with light grey borders. First picture has a girl standing in the middle, a silhoutte of a human on the both sides of her. At the bottom of the picture there’s a black text that says ”From time to time, we run into situations where everything seems to be demanding our attention.”
2. panel: Green, feminine silhoutte has a droplet on their head and has a speech bubble, that doens’t say anything. Girl in the middle looks at her with a smile. At the bottom there’s a black text that says ”Usually part of it comes from our loved ones. Maybe they’re in a bad place and need our help.”
3. panel: Turquoise masculine silhoutte get’s a droplet on their head too, and has a speech bubble with no text. The girl in the middle turns her head towards them and looks perplexed. At the bottom of the picture there’s a black text that says ”And we want to help our friends, so much! They are our loved ones, in the end. They’ve helped us, they’ve been there for us.”
4. panel: Both of the sihlouttes start having more and more speech bubbles, and the girl in the middle looks terrifyed. At the bottom of the picture there’s a black text that says ”And we try our best. But sometimes it’s too much.”
5. panel: Silhouttes are gone, but the girl is crouching in the middle of a huge amount of speech bubbles, holding hands on her ears. At the bottom of the picture there’s a black text that says ”Way too much. We feel worthless and maybe even try harder, but…”
6. panel: Background changes to nearly black. Girl is crouching in the middle of darkness. There’s white text above the girl, that says ”…isn’t that when you’re left alone most? Not because your friends wouldn’t care, but because you don’t. You don’t care about yourself.” At the bottom of the picture there’s a larger text that says ”You leave yourself alone, in order to take care of others.”
7. panel: There’s a profile of the girl’s head, staring down. At the bottom of the picture there’s a white text that says ”While it is a good deed to help your friends, who pays the price? If you don’t care about yourself, then who does?”]
Growing pains
Here’s a comic I worked for a long time while I went to therapy. I really don’t know what else to say about it – as a topic, it’s not so close to me anymore. But still important!
(Sorry about texts being so small. This was… a long time ago, so I was still very much practicing. Try to zoom closer on the webside!)
[Image description: it is a digitally drawn comic on a horizontal page. It has 11 panels on two rows.
1. panel: Three kids are running from left to right. First one is pointing something ahead them and smiling to other. They all look very excited. Background has grey mass of running children and a blue sky. There’s an orange text box above the panel. It says: ”Kids have a job. It is to grow up.”
2. panel: This panel is under the brevious. It has a silver blond haired young girl running towards the reader, smiling. She’s wearing an orange t-shirt, red shorts and red shoes. Background has a blue sky and a grey ground. There’s an orange text box above the panel. It says: ”And every kid wants to do it. Eagerly. Isn’t that something you thought about as a kid?”
3. panel: The silver haired young girl is walking her head down. Background is mostly grey, with some small areas of blue. There’s an orange text box beneath the panel. It says: ”Sometimes, there’s plenty of bad luck: there’s stuff that a kiddo can’t really do anything about. Something that’s not under a child’s control. Sometimes that stuff makes growing up hard.”
4. panel: The girl suddenly stops, confused. There are bars in front of her. Background is grey. There’s an orange text box above the panel. It says: ”And not just hard. Maybe it makes growing up almost impossible.”
5. panel: The girl is pushing her hand through the bars, trying to reach something. She’s crying. Background is darker from the left. There’s an orange text box above the panel. It says: ”Which means a kid is forced to get left behind.”
6. panel: This panel has no borders, and it’s backgound color fades away in between other near by panels. The girl is lying in fetal position on the ground, her hand still goes through bars. Her legs are transparent blue, and the colors in her are rising in the air towards the teen girl, who is standing up next to her. She has white top and light blue jeans, her hair color is like toffee. Her impression is bland. Background is dark turquoise.
7. panel: A blue, transparent girl is lying in fetal position on the ground, covering her face with her hands. Background is dark blue and get darker at the borders of the panel. There’s an orange text box above the panel. It says: ”When you need to grow up in one big leap, Something gets usually left behind. You are not whole.”
8. panel: The blue girl is lying behind bars. Someone is walking towards her on the other side of the bars, they have blue jeans, woolly socks with blue, orange and white and brown shoes. Background is grey ground and behind bars dark blue.
9. panel: Blue girl is now almost sitting, crying and looking up to someone, who is in this panel visible from waist down only. They have brown, long cardigan and an orange shirt. Background is grey, darker on the top part of the panel.
10. panel: The one who came to the girl is lifting the bars and offers her hand to the girl. This is seen from the girl’s perspective. The adult is now seen completely. They have light brown dreadlocks. Background is grey, darker at the bottom of the panel. There’s an orange text box above the panel. It says: ”In order to be whole, you need to come back for what you were forced to leave behind.”
11. panel: Last panel has the adult carrying the transparent child. Adult seems sad and child seems tired. Background is grey, darker on the top part of the panel. There’s an orange text box above the panel. It says: ”It usually means a lot of work. And a huge amount of work is never painless.”]
Valomerkki
Here’s a comic from a while back! Sometimes (especially with some illness affecting on bowel) it can take a while. In public restrooms, it’s not very pleasent.
-Nubba
Image description: Digitally drawn four-panel comic. Background is grey room.
1. picture: A woman sitting on a toilet seat, resting her head to her hand and looking at her phone.
2. picture: A word *KLIK* is written on the panel. Room is darker. The woman looks up, still resting her head.
3. picture: The woman waves her hand in the air. Room is still darker.
4. picture: A word *KLIK* is written on the panel. Room has lighter tone again. Her hand is still halfly in the air. She has a droplet on her forehead and a thought bubble next to her. It says ”Have I really been here this long…”
Holiday comic

I hope your holidays went well, or at least tolerably! Mine went very well – here’s a little atmosphere comic of my Christmas Eve morning travel to visit my family.
Let’s keep thumbs up for the next year!
